Aquatic Invasive Species Outreach

Aquatic Invasive Species outreach began in response to the need to inform Great Lakes residents about the invasive zebra mussel and how to slow its spread. Public outreach about AIS now involves information about a number of invasive species, including Asian carp.

Since 1997, Michigan Sea Grant has developed activities that include a digital library of photographs and diagrams a invasive species education program; curriculum resources for educators, including lessons, activities, posters, booklets, and identification cards for boaters, anglers and others. In addition, webpages, fact sheets and other free information is available online and at events.

Sea Grant collaborates with state government, the Michigan Lake and Stream Association and the Michigan Boating Industries Association on invasive species outreach.
