ArtsEngine is a unit on the University of Michigan’s North Campus that drives collaborations between the arts, architecture and engineering. As a national model for transdisciplinary initiatives in higher education, ArtsEngine represents the highest quality of knowledge production that can emerge at the “edges” of disciplines. It is at these edges that students and scholars from the arts and engineering form unique relationships, make creative and scholarly adaptations and, in many cases, create new fields, knowledge and modes of creative expression. ArtsEngine provides this for the University of Michigan through its initiatives, the courses it offers and through its Living Learning Community – Living Arts.
