Housing and Caregiver Counseling Program

The Housing and Caregiver Counseling Program helps older adults and their caregivers assess their living arrangements, personal care needs as well as options and resources for maximizing independence when making decisions about staying in their own home or moving into new living arrangement (e.g., senior housing or moving in with family). Decision support is provided for evaluating housing and long term care options that take into consideration such factors as personal values, personal care needs, safety, privacy, social connections and transportation resources, as well as affordability.

With current listings of local housing and long term care options, we offer resources on:
-low cost senior housing
-retirement residences
-assisted living care residences (adult foster care and homes for the aged and memory care communities)
-nursing homes
-all age communities
-market rate and subsidized apartment complexes
-cooperative housing
-manufactured homes
-public housing and Section 8 Voucher Program
-tips for Long Distance Caregiving
