Center for Sustainable Systems (CSS)

The Center for Sustainable Systems, an evolution of the National Pollution Prevention Center, in collaboration with leaders of industry, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, develops life cycle based models and sustainability metrics to guide the improvement of systems to meet societal needs. The Center educates students, faculty, and professionals through a variety of activities, including systems analysis research applied broadly to products, technologies and services, production and dissemination of research publications and other educational materials including a suite of sustainability factsheets; an internship program; advisory development of a graduate certificate program for Industrial Ecology and of a dual Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Engineering; professional training courses, workshops and conferences; and establishing a network of sustainability professionals.
