German Day, an annual event sponsored each March by the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan, attracts high school German students and their teachers mainly from the southeast corner of Michigan for a day of competitions and fun.
In addition to being introduced to the Ann Arbor campus, students compete and test their German skills in the following areas: extemporaneous speaking, reading, poetry recitation, art projects, skits, TV commercials, musical performances, spelling, video production, DVDs, and websites. These events are judged by faculty and graduate students from the department as well as interested volunteers.
For two decades approximately 20 middle and high schools from southeast Michigan have participated in this popular event each spring. For more information please contact us. To learn more about the event, please follow the link to our web page below.
