Henry Ford Estate Volunteer Program

Restoration of this National Historic Landmark is made possible by the over 200 volunteers who raise funds, tend gardens, guide visitors, greet guest, staff the gift shop and ticket booth, and restore elements and artifacts under the direction of University professionals. The Estate consists of the residence, the powerhouse/laboratory and garage complex, the greenhouse and potting shed, tea house, boat house, rose gardens, peony garden, lilac hedgerows and extensive acreage of Jens Jensen designed idealized nature.

A working 1915 Edison powerhouse, a grotto dedicated to the memory of the naturalist John Burroughs, and extensive wood carvings are also highlights and subjects of restoration and interpretation.
