Interdisciplinary Child Welfare Training Program

The University of Michigan School of Social Work collaborates with state and local child welfare family service agencies in at least two midwestern states to develop and deliver an interdisciplinary training program to community-based teams composed of: 1.) child welfare / family services managers, supervisors, and case workers; 2.) professionals from voluntary agencies who provide services on contract to child welfare cases, 3.) Assistance Payment workers as well as 4.) professionals working in these communities in substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health agencies.

The training builds on the expertise and experience of a large interdisciplinary cadre of UM faculty, substantial past collaboration between the University and Child Welfare/Family Service agencies as well significant national and state training efforts already undertaken on domestic violence and substance abuse issues.
