Interpreter Services Program (ISP)

Description

Interpreter Services has been providing carefully screened and highly trained Medical Interpreters since before 1990. We currently employ Interpreters and Translators who between them speak more than 70 languages.

We are committed to:
- Helping Limited English Patients (LEP) and deaf/Hard of Hearing patients enjoy equal access to outstanding health care;
- Educating patients and families about their right to receive free language assistance;
- Raising awareness of the impact of culture and language on health care delivery among UMHS Staff;
- Providing accurate translations of medical and billing records;
- Collaborating with local ethnic communities;
- Offering educational opportunities for current and future medical interpreters.
