Program for Multicultural Health (PMCH)

Description

PMCH collaborates with community organizations and academic departments to educate, advocate for, and develop initiatives to improve the health of diverse populations. We build capacity in individuals, organizations and communities so that everyone, regardless of income, race/ethnicity, language, gender, education, etc., has the opportunity to achieve optimal health and well-being.

Recent projects include: empowerment programming for low-income African American females to address social and cultural factors that lead to poor health; implemented a needs assessment for a church (predominantly Nigerian immigrants) to develop health education programs; and established a partnership with the Michigan Islamic Academy to conduct adolescent health risk assessments.
