Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)

Current 7th and 8th graders

SEP is a two-week commuter camp held at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center (FREC) at 2826 Bagley Avenue in Detroit. SEP programming helps students take the middle school concepts they learned in science, math, social studies, and English classes and see how they apply to the real world. Students must secure transportation to and from the FREC each day of the program.

SEP, taught by top-notch instructors, reinforces and teaches concepts such as photosynthesis, respiration, energy capture, energy storage and transfer, and chemistry, along with concepts typically confined to social studies’ units on economics and political science. SEP helps students weave these concepts together to equip them to tackle the big engineering design challenge that is presented to students in the second week of the program.

The program will also include a visit to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, College of Engineering campus for workshops and tours.

There will be one session of SEP this summer. Twenty students are accepted to SEP.
