Trail’s Edge Camp for Ventilator Dependent Children

Description

Trail’s Edge Camp is a not-for-profit, grant and donation-funded summer camp for children who are ventilator dependent. Staffed by more than 50 medical professionals and other volunteers, campers ranging from 5 to 18 years of age enjoy a week of adventure. The first camp of its kind, Trail’s Edge is a place where campers enjoy typical camp activities such as horseback riding, fishing and pranks. This week-long camp also provides parents with a much-needed respite from the difficult tasks necessary in caring for a medically fragile child.

The program leases the Fowler Center for Outdoor Learning north of Lapeer, situated in Mayville. This barrier-free camp accepts children from throughout Michigan to participate in the summer fun.
